The only way you can REALLY excel as a leader is to understand You, Your staff and your company.  So many leaders simply jump in and start to dictate hoping this will lead them to success.  OR they do just the opposite and hope it will all work out without structure.

Stop the Madness!

Check out this simple 5 step formula and become the leader you have always dreamed you could be.

Get a Solid Footing – Understand your staff’s S.W.O.T.s (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats).  Fairness means you need to understand your people before any goals and job responsibilities can be given.  If you don’t know what empowers your people than you don’t know if the position fits their needs.  If you want ultimate productivity, then get to know your people first!

Lay the Path – Once you have identified yours, your companies, and your staff’s SWOTs, it’s time to set those strong S.M.A.R.T. Goals (Specific, Measurable/Motivational, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) and make sure to know what KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) you need to put into place to reach the goals.

Span the Gap – Understand yourself before leading others.  It’s important to understand your leadership style and how you lead and what you can do to improve before you help others.  Also start to understand your staff and the current culture so you can work as a team to improve.

Raise the Road – Now’s the time to really build out your management/leadership skills and help your team through great team involvement.  Build out the SWOTs, goals, KPIs, with the team.  If you want to succeed as a leader, then include your team every step of the way.  This is where TRUST is built!  Make sure everyone is part of building that great consistent culture and the “dos” and “don’ts” to ensure everyone is in agreement.

Enjoy the Ride – Now that all is in place it’s time to follow through and make sure the ride is smooth going down the road.

One step at a time – in order – means consistency and ease of implementation PLUS follow through.  Enjoying the ride brings you down that wonderful path of consistency and ease of administration once all is in place and all see and feel the fairness to all concerned.

That’s what makes the difference between you and any other leader.  You care, You believe, AND You deliver Leadership at a Master level!
